PSG Build Special Plan to Stop Arsenal's Deadly Set-Piece Threat in Champions League Final
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly preparing a special tactical approach to deal with Arsenal FC ahead of the UEFA Champions League final. The French champions are especially focused on stopping Arsenal's dangerous set-piece routines, which have become one of the club's biggest attacking weapons this season under Mikel Arteta.
Recent training sessions from PSG showed goalkeepers and defenders working intensely on handling physical pressure during corner-kick situations. The drills reportedly included combat-style exercises and the use of special contact equipment to help players stay composed inside crowded penalty areas. PSG's coaching staff appear determined to prepare their squad for the aggressive aerial battles expected in the final.
Arsenal have built a strong reputation as one of Europe's most effective teams from set pieces this season. The North London side have scored numerous goals from corners, with defenders and midfielders regularly creating problems through well-organized movement and precise delivery. PSG are particularly concerned about the aerial threat posed by Gabriel Magalhães, who has consistently been dangerous inside the box.
The quality of Arsenal's set-piece delivery has also improved significantly thanks to Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice. Their accurate crosses and clever routines have made Arsenal extremely difficult to defend in dead-ball situations. At the same time, PSG know they can exploit Arsenal through quick counterattacks using their fast and technically gifted forwards if the English side commit too many players forward during corners.
The importance of set pieces in modern football has become increasingly clear throughout the season, especially after several controversial VAR decisions involving physical contact during corner kicks in the Premier League. Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes even suggested Arsenal may need to rely heavily on set pieces to break down PSG in the final. With both teams carrying different strengths into the match, the battle during dead-ball situations could become one of the key factors in deciding the Champions League winner.
