Nkunku Nears Newcastle Move as Milan Plot Gimenez Exit to Porto

AC Milan are continuing to reshape their squad as they look to reduce the wage bill and generate funds for new arrivals. Christopher Nkunku has emerged as one of the players being pushed toward the exit, only a year after joining from Chelsea for €37 million plus additional payments. The French forward has reportedly been left out of training since the club returned from their preseason tour, underlining the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Newcastle United have moved into pole position for Nkunku, with the Premier League side prepared to offer around €30 million for the versatile attacker. Aston Villa have also shown interest, while Roma, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have previously explored the possibility of signing him. Milan appear increasingly open to his departure as they seek to balance their squad and finances.

Meanwhile, Milan are waiting for Rodrigo Mora's transfer to Roma to be completed, a move that could have a knock-on effect involving Santiago Gimenez. FC Porto are considering a loan deal with an option to buy for around €20 million as they look to bring the Mexican striker back to Portugal. Porto previously invested €30.2 million plus bonuses to sign Gimenez from Feyenoord in February 2025.

Another player heading out of San Siro is young defender David Odogu, who is set to spend the season on loan at Toulouse. The move is part of Milan's broader effort to create room in the squad while generating financial flexibility for their transfer plans.

Milan are targeting at least €50 million in total transfer income, including potential add-ons, to help finance the proposed signing of Diego Moreira from RC Strasbourg.
