Christian Pulisic is still waiting for his first appearance of the 2026/2027 Serie A season with AC Milan. After three league matches, the American winger has remained on the bench, including during Milan's draw against Juventus on Sunday night. His return had been expected after recovering from an injury, but another opportunity passed without him entering the game.

Pulisic suffered a fractured bone while representing the United States at the World Cup. Although he has now recovered and has spent considerable time training with his teammates, Ruben Amorim has chosen to take a cautious approach. The Milan coach appears unwilling to rush the player back into competitive action before he is physically ready for the demands of Serie A.

The decision has also affected Pulisic's chances in Milan's previous matches against Torino and Venezia, where he was left out of the action. Against Juventus, expectations were higher that he would finally make his seasonal debut, yet Amorim again decided against using him. The manager instead relied on players who were considered to be in better physical condition at that stage of the campaign.

Amorim's approach was also evident with Diego Moreira and Adrien Rabiot during the Juventus match. Moreira had been out for three weeks before returning and was taken off in the 61st minute, while Rabiot was replaced after around an hour. These decisions highlight Milan's intention to carefully manage the workload of players who are returning from periods without regular competitive football.

For Pulisic, the wait is likely to continue until Milan's coaching staff believes he has reached the necessary fitness level. Amorim's decisions suggest that technical and tactical qualities alone will not determine when the winger returns to the pitch.
