Kylian Mbappe believes 2026 could be the right time for him to finally win the Ballon d'Or. The Real Madrid forward has enjoyed another highly productive period, strengthening his case for the prestigious individual award despite the club ending last season without a major trophy.

Mbappe scored 42 goals in 44 appearances for Real Madrid last season, underlining his importance in the team's attack. However, his impressive personal numbers were not enough to deliver silverware, as Madrid failed to secure a major title. His performances for France have also kept him among the leading names in world football.

At international level, Mbappe added another remarkable achievement to his record by finishing as the World Cup Golden Boot winner with 10 goals. He has now scored 22 goals across his World Cup appearances, further enhancing his reputation on the biggest stage. Those numbers have strengthened his credentials ahead of this year's Ballon d'Or voting.

Despite his confidence, Mbappe faces strong competition for the award. Harry Kane is regarded as one of the leading contenders after scoring 61 goals in 51 matches for Bayern Munich while helping the German club win two trophies. Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal is also among the major candidates, with Rodri another name expected to feature prominently in the race.
