Persija Strengthens Defense with Experienced Serbian Center-Back Radovan Pankov

Persija Jakarta have officially signed Serbian defender Radovan Pankov ahead of the 2026–27 Super League season. The 30-year-old center-back has agreed to a two-year contract and is expected to become a key figure in the club's defensive line. The management believes his arrival will bring greater stability, leadership, and experience to the squad as they prepare for a new campaign.

Pankov joins Persija after building an extensive career across Europe. He began his professional journey with Vojvodina before spending time with AEK Larnaca in Cyprus and Ural in Russia. His consistent performances later earned him opportunities with Radnicki, Red Star Belgrade, Cukaricki, and Polish powerhouse Legia Warszawa, where he played until the end of the 2023–24 season.

One of the highlights of Pankov's career came during his time with Red Star Belgrade, where he gained valuable experience competing in the UEFA Champions League. Playing against some of Europe's strongest clubs helped shape his defensive qualities and tactical awareness. Those experiences are expected to benefit Persija as the club aims to compete at a higher level domestically.

Persija's management considers Pankov an ideal addition because of his strong mentality, leadership, and ability to perform under pressure. Standing at 185 centimeters tall, the Serbian defender is expected to improve the team's defensive organization while setting a higher standard for his teammates through his professionalism and experience in top-level European competitions.

The move also marks Pankov's first experience playing for a club in Asia, opening a new chapter in his career.
