Al-Hilal Push Loan Move for Darwin Nunez as European Clubs Monitor Situation

Al-Hilal are actively searching for a new club for Darwin Nunez after shifting their focus from a permanent transfer to a loan deal. With no suitable offers arriving during the summer transfer window, the Saudi club is now prioritizing a temporary move that would allow another team to cover a significant portion of the Uruguayan striker's salary.

Several destinations are being explored across Europe. Club officials are expected to hold discussions with leading Turkish teams, while interest has also emerged from clubs in the Premier League and Portugal. Barcelona have been informed that Nunez could be available, although the Spanish giants have not entered formal negotiations over a potential move.

Despite taking part in Al-Hilal's preseason preparations in Austria, Nunez is no longer viewed as a key part of the club's long-term plans. The forward has struggled to settle into life in Saudi Arabia, leading Al-Hilal to believe that a return to European football could help him regain his best form and increase his market value before another attempt at a permanent sale next year.

The club invested €55 million to sign Nunez from Liverpool, where his performances had been inconsistent despite the English side previously paying €85 million to secure him from Benfica. Barcelona have admired the striker for several years, having considered signing him during his time at Almeria before Benfica ultimately completed the transfer. His profile has remained on the club's radar ever since.

Although super agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly presented Nunez as a possible option, Barcelona continue to focus on Julian Alvarez as their primary attacking target. For now, the Catalan club is limiting its involvement to gathering information rather than opening negotiations. However, a loan agreement with minimal transfer costs could make Nunez an attractive alternative if their pursuit of other forwards fails to produce the desired outcome.
