Manchester City Complete £125m Signing of Chelsea Star Enzo Fernández

Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández from Chelsea. The transfer fee is reportedly as high as £125 million (approximately €145 million), with the entire amount paid as a fixed transfer fee.

The Argentina international's deal will run until the summer of 2031, meaning he will remain at the Etihad Stadium until then.

At just 25 years old, Enzo has already gained extensive experience at the highest level. During his time in Argentina with Defensa y Justicia and River Plate, he won four major trophies. He later helped Benfica win the Portuguese top-flight title before becoming an important member of Chelsea's squads that won the 2025 UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Indeed, during his time with the west London club, he gradually established a reputation as one of the Premier League's most technically gifted midfielders.

At international level, Enzo helped Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 Copa América. He also featured in another World Cup final this summer, although Argentina ultimately lost the final to Spain.

Speaking about his move to Manchester City, Enzo said:

Enzo joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a reported fee of €121 million, setting a new Premier League transfer record at the time.

During his spell at Chelsea, Enzo made a total of 170 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 30 assists. He also helped the club win the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer of 2025.
