Lazio and AC Milan Explore Potential Swap Deal for Nuno Tavares and Fikayo Tomori
Lazio and AC Milan are reportedly considering a player exchange involving Nuno Tavares and Fikayo Tomori as both clubs look to make further adjustments before the summer transfer window closes. Milan have renewed their interest in the Portuguese left-back, while Lazio are searching for another centre-back to strengthen their defensive options.
The two clubs have already done business this summer, with Lazio selling Mario Gila to Milan for €30 million before also allowing young defender Lorenzo Calvani to leave. The potential Tavares-Tomori deal would represent another significant piece of transfer activity between the Serie A sides, although several factors still need to be resolved before an agreement can be reached.
Tomori has reportedly been made available for transfer after falling outside Ruben Amorim’s plans at Milan. The English defender is entering the final year of his contract and could therefore be an appealing target for Lazio. His experience in Serie A and ability to operate at the heart of the defence would fit the Biancocelesti’s current needs, particularly as they seek to reinforce the position.
Tavares, meanwhile, appears to have lost his place as Lazio’s first-choice left-back following the arrival of Alfonso Pedraza. The Italian club are considering selling either Tavares or Luca Pellegrini, with the former potentially offering a more attractive financial return. Lazio have reportedly placed a €20 million valuation on the Portuguese defender, although Arsenal would be entitled to 40 percent of the eventual transfer fee because of a sell-on clause included in his previous move.
The proposed exchange remains complicated, but both clubs have reasons to keep negotiations alive. Tavares is believed to be of interest to Milan, while Tomori could provide Lazio with the defensive reinforcement they need. Their salaries are also relatively comparable, although differences in Italy’s tax arrangements mean their net earnings are not identical. With the transfer deadline approaching, the relationship between the two deals could determine whether this unusual swap eventually becomes a reality.
